Russia and the UAE are preparing for mutual recognition of vaccination certificates
Speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko discussed with the leadership of the Federal National Council (Parliament) of the UAE the possibility of mutual recognition of certificates of vaccination against coronavirus between the two countries, Interfax reports.
“Today, during our meeting with the distinguished Mr. Chairman of the Federal Council, we discussed the possibility of an early signing of an agreement between Russia and the United Arab Emirates on the mutual recognition of vaccination certificates,” said Ms Matvienko, speaking to members of the UAE Federal National Council on Tuesday.
In her opinion, this will contribute to the development of tourism, business, cultural ties and ensure the human right to movement.
“In theory, advances in pharmacology should prompt the world community to start a dialogue on the mutual recognition of vaccination certificates. Russia has repeatedly presented this proposal at the most authoritative platforms.
And we are very glad that the Arab Emirates also adhere to the same point of view, ”said the Speaker of the Federation Council.
Earlier, representatives of neighboring Bahrain also approached the speaker of the Federation Council with a similar initiative. This country also expects mutual recognition of vaccination documents with Russia and expects this process to be launched in the near future.
Recall that now arriving in the UAE (Dubai and Sharjah airports) must have a certificate with a negative PCR test for COVID-19, made no earlier than 72 hours before departure in English or Arabic. It also requires a health insurance policy that covers treatment for coronavirus and observation in the UAE in case of a positive PCR test and a completed “Declaration of health status” with a mark that there are no symptoms of the disease.
In addition, in early October, the emirate of Abu Dhabi relaxed the conditions for entering the emirate for Russian tourists, canceling the ten-day quarantine for them. In addition, the Emirate’s Ministry of Health and Prevention has officially approved the Sputnik V vaccine, and it is now on the list of vaccines with which entry is allowed.
By the decision of the headquarters of the government, Russia has lifted restrictions on regular and charter flights to the UAE since November 9.
