Russia and Egypt considered the development of bilateral relations
NEW YORK, USA, September 23, 2021, 06:31 – REGNUM Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Egyptian Foreign Minister Samekh Shukri expressed their mutual intention to deepen foreign policy coordination during a meeting on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly (UNGA). This was announced on September 23 by the press service of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
During the meeting, the heads of the foreign affairs agencies of the two countries discussed the situation in the Middle East and North Africa, paying special attention to the situation in Libya and Syria, as well as in the Palestinian-Israeli settlement.
The parties discussed issues of further development of relations between Moscow and Cairo, noting the need to maintain a high dynamics of bilateral contacts, in which a trusting dialogue between the heads of both states plays a key role.
“The mutual confidence was emphasized that the agreement on comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation between Russia and Egypt, which entered into force in January 2021, will ensure the strengthening of cooperation in trade, economic, humanitarian and other spheres,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
Earlier IA REGNUM reported that Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov invited Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shukri to pay an official visit to Moscow.
