In the new agricultural year that began in July, Russia exported grains and legumes to 122 countries

According to the FSBI “Grain Quality Assessment Center” subordinate to the Rosselkhoznadzor, in the 2021/22 agricultural year Russia exported 11.5 million tons of grain and its processed products, including 10.8 million tons of grain and leguminous crops.

Domestic grain products are exported to 122 importing countries. At the same time, 64 states increased their purchases compared to the same period last year, and 19 showed the maximum demand for themselves.

The largest volume of goods was exported to the Middle East (4.7 million tons), where Turkey has traditionally become the main importer, which currently shows record rates of purchases mainly due to barley (0.4 million tons). Large volumes of soybean meal, lentils, safflower meal, and rice groats are also imported into the country.

Saudi Arabia, against the background of a decrease in imports of barley, increased the volume of purchases of domestic wheat (0.3 million tons).

African countries imported 3.1 million tons of grain and grain products. It is worth noting the increased interest in Russian wheat from the countries of North Africa (Libya, Algeria), West Africa (Burkina Faso, Togo), East Africa (Tanzania, Malawi, Somalia, Zimbabwe, Burundi), Central (Congo, Democratic Republic, Angola , Republic of the Congo, Gabon) and South Africa (Namibia). After the break, the export of corn and lentils to Algeria, peas and coriander to Egypt, wheat to Zimbabwe, wheat flour to Benin, and millet to Libya resumed.

Export of products to Asia amounted to 2.6 million tons. Supplies to South Asia (1.9 million tons) and Central Asia (0.5 million tons) increased. It is worth noting here a significant increase in Kazakhstan’s demand for wheat (0.3 million tons), rye, malt, semolina and others.

The EU countries imported 0.8 million tons of Russian grain products. 13 out of 22 European importing countries have increased their purchases. Latvia, after a short break, resumed import of Russian safflower, Germany – camelina, Poland – wheat flour. Belgium bought a record amount of peas, and the export of wheat and meal to Finland increased.
