First Aurus cars delivered to UAE, Bahrain and Azerbaijan

The first Aurus were exported. They will be received by customers from the Emirates, Azerbaijan and Bahrain. The head of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov spoke about this in the Duma at the government hour.
The heavy version of Aurus, according to Manturov, will be assembled at the facilities of NAMI. As for the SUV, its serial production will be launched by the end of 2022 at the Aurus plant in Tatarstan.

Aurus is the first luxury Russian brand. Its name is composed of two words: Aurum – “gold” and Russia – “Russia”. In the line of the project, code-named “Cortege”, the limousine and sedan Aurus Senat, the minivan Aurus Arsenal and the SUV Aurus Komendant. Yuri Chernenko became the chief designer of the project, and Vadim Pereverzev, who had worked for many years at FIAT.

State investments in the project exceeded 12.4 billion rubles. The shareholders are NAMI (63.5%), Sollers (0.5%) and the UAE Defense, Security and Development Fund Tawazun (36%).

It is planned to export Aurus cars primarily to MENA countries – these are 19 countries of the Middle East and North Africa.

Speaking to the deputies, Denis Manturov also noted that in 2021, car production in Russia will grow by 7% compared to last year, despite the shortage of electronic components. Rosstat notes that the production of passenger cars for 10 months of 2021 increased by 13.1% to 1.1 million units, and trucks by 35.7% to 148 thousand vehicles.
