Lavrov and the UAE Foreign Minister noted the growth in trade and discussed the schedule of contacts

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), discussed by phone on Tuesday the growth in trade between the countries, which approached $5 billion in 2021, as well as the schedule of upcoming contacts.

“Both sides gave a high assessment to the achieved level of development of multifaceted Russian-Emirati cooperation. It was noted with satisfaction that by the end of 2021, the bilateral trade turnover approached $5 billion, which brought the UAE to the first position among Russia’s partners in the Arab world in this indicator,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

“The heads of the foreign ministries of the two countries also touched upon some topical issues of further strengthening business interaction and foreign policy coordination, including the schedule of upcoming contacts,” the diplomatic department added.

As noted on Smolenskaya Square, the parties also exchanged views on regional issues, special attention was paid, in particular, to the situation in Yemen, “including in the context of the discussion in the UN Security Council of the draft of the relevant resolution.” “Lavrov again emphasized the futility of a forceful solution to the protracted bloody conflict in this country. The need for an early launch under the auspices of the UN of an inclusive inter-Yemeni dialogue with the participation of all influential political forces, confessional and regional groups of the country, aimed at finding compromise solutions to existing problems, was emphasized.
