Egypt will host climate conference in 2022

GLASGOW, November 11. / TASS /. The Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in 2022 (COP27) will be held in Egypt, and in 2023 (COP28) in the UAE. This was announced on Thursday at a plenary meeting held in Glasgow COP26 by its chairman, a member of the British Cabinet of Ministers Alok Sharma.
“If there are no objections, then it will be decided so,” Sharma said, after which the program of the current conference was adopted. It states that, “while continuing to apply the principles of rotation between regional groups, the country that will host COP27 must represent an African state, and COP28 must represent an Asia-Pacific state.” After that, the candidacies of Egypt and the United Arab Emirates were nominated and tentatively supported. This decision was approved on Thursday.
The UN Climate Conference is being held in Glasgow from October 31 and will end on November 12. Delegations of almost 200 countries take part in its work.
